What. A. Game!
In the Georgia State Lady Panthers first, and only, exhibition game of the season, they won in impressive fashion. The Lady Panthers defeated the University of Montevallo Falcons 99-60.
After shaking off a slow start, The Lady Panthers started firing on all cylinders. The Panthers held the Falcons to only 25 points in the second half, and caused them to shoot 34.5%.
A strong showing from Alisha Andrews and Brittany Logan helped pave the way. Andrews had a team high nine assists in twenty-eight minutes of action, and Logan was one of two Panthers who grabbed nine rebounds.
The surprises of the night however, were the freshman duo of Makeba Ponder and Kennesha Nichols. Both are poised to have a breakout season with the Panthers, and to have remarkable careers during their respective tenures at Georgia State. Makeba Ponder had a game high 22 points coming off the bench for Georgia State, and Kennesha Nichols, co-led the team in rebounds with nine, alongside Brittany Logan, while also coming off the bench.
The Panthers open their season, on the road, Saturday, November 15 against the Ospreys from the University of North Florida.
